ICCM is an urban ministry center committed to transforming impoverished people through the power of Jesus Christ. The mission is focusing on reaching out to hurting people and works with them for the long-term. ICCM goes to people where they are: in the streets, homeless shelters and prisons. The main focus is to change the city of Minneapolis one life at a time.
Imagine you are a single mother living with children in a homeless shelter in downtown Minneapolis. After growing up in the inner city, suffocated by generational poverty and abuse, you now struggle with drug addiction and many of the problems you had hoped to escape. You used to have hope for your future and for the future of your children – now all you can think about is the next high and surviving from day to day. You do whatever it takes to get by, even if that means selling your body.
Unfortunately, this story is repeated many times over right here in our own community. Poverty, drug addiction, violence, prostitution, and broken families plague our inner city.
At any given time, there are more than 4,000 people living without permanent housing in Minneapolis – over one third of whom are children and teenagers.
ICCM builds healthy communities using our proven ministry model to give a person the abilities to be transformed from a taker to a giver, making families sustainable, stable, and reliable. They give hope to those they serve and provide an outlet for serving in the community. Those who were once homeless or addicted are now reaching out to those who are where they once were.
One of the keys to successfully accomplishing the mission is the transportation provided for single mothers and their children to Life Skills training and tutoring programs, especially in the beginning stages of their habilitation.
A gently-used van for the transportation ministry costs between $30,000 and $45,000. That van will provides 5-7 years of service in picking up families and individuals from the homeless shelters and giving them a chance to find hope and a new beginning.
